40% of yearly production is destined for export though exports are destined to grow worldwide thanks to a recently implemented expansion strategy. Quality, research and innovation are some of the keywords to describe GAS product. In the company, there is an actual centre for research and development called the "artisanal room". This is the place where all of the manufacturing processes are experimented in a controlled environment. This is where creativity meets the manufacturing history of GAS.
GAS is also with everyone that has a dream, an objective and fight every day to attain it. This is why it has always been involved to the world of sport as it shares the fundamental values of optimism, passion, dynamism, determination and the ability to push one's limits to be the best. Since '98 an important partnership ties GAS with the largest motorcycle maker in the world as the brand is one of the main sponsors of the Repsol Honda team for the MotoGP World Championship.
His love for fashion and business became clear very soon, and he learned the ground rules in his mother's small haberdashery shop. When he reached adult age, he began working as music PR almost for fun, but he developed a great instinct for the fashion and trends of the young, and he soon realised that the market did not offer anything that represented their culture. That is when his enterprising adventure began; initially he took over the management of the family haberdashery shop and began selling a famous brand of jeans. However he was not happy with what the market was offering, so in the early 70s he opened his own craft workshop, where he could focus all his energy and love for denim.
He began creating unique models, learning all the special secrets that were needed to create a fashion collection but, also, the commercial aspects that are involved. In the space of a few years, he set up a company where the entire production process is focused on creating collections addressed to a consumer who wants original, good quality clothes, but which are functional and versatile as well.
In 1984 his dream came true when he launched the first GAS collection. He loves saying of himself: "I could say that I am always working or that I never work – mine is not a profession but a passion".
The GAS symbol was inspired by this natural phenomenon with is amazing energetic force, as it ideally reflects the fundamental values of the brand: union, synergy, positivity, energy. The double rainbow is the emblem of the Grotto Company, its collections and brand communication around the world.
