Double podium in Assen Grand Prix

The Assen GP was won by Spies, who started second on the grid, after narrowly missing the pole position behind Simoncelli, launching his Yamaha ahead of Lorenzo’s just in time to avoid a clash between the two.

Stoner and Dovizioso finished 2nd and 3rd respectively, after both falling in free practice. Aoyama, despite having a sharp pain in the back after also falling on Friday, finished in a creditable 8th position in his 1st experience on the Honda RC212V.

Dani Pedrosa replaced by Hiroshi Aoyama

Dani Pedrosa will not make his long awaited MotoGP comeback in Assen this weekend and it will be San Carlo Gresini Honda rider Hiroshi Aoyama alongside world championship leader Casey Stoner and Italian Andrea Dovizioso.

Pedrosa maybe come back in action in Mugello next week: the Spaniard, in fact, had two operations on the damaged bone in his shoulder and his conditions aren’t so perfect…

Dani Pedrosa will be at Assen? Maybe not…

From his personal blog, Dani Pedrosa told that his participation in the Grand Prix of Assen is still uncertain.
In the sad letter to his fans, the pilot explains the reasons that might force him to miss:

‘Hello everyone. First of all, I would like to thank you for the support during these hard days. It ‘s a great motivation for my recovery. I’m going on with my rehabilitation – Pedrosa continues – I would like to know if I’ll be at Assen, but at the moment isn’t possible to know it yet.
