GAS Man SS 2013

For spring, the GAS man wants to have fun with his clothes and wear a look with a FUNNY DANDY flavor with sophisticated but relaxed, clean-cut but never banal looks enhanced by eccentric touches and hand-crafted details that underscore the wearer’s  personality. Starting with denim, he combines shades of blue, the GAS color par excellence, and wears the new NOLEY chinos in shiny-look soft-treated denim, a shirt with a soft, draping touch and a silk-like look and a sartorially-inspired yarn-dyed striped deconstructed jacket with chambray inserts. Or he pairs them with a raw-cut mélange t-shirt with an urban-flavor maxi-print and the light, reversible cardigan with a mélange look on one side and horizontal stripes on the other

The urban dandy wears slim-fit jeans with a raw vintage look or in the latest grey denim with a colored weft, in a range that goes from acid green to teal, mauve and wisteria blue, and a vintage treatment that gives very particular chiaroscuro effects. The yarn-dyed striped shirt with cutaway collar and the yarn-dyed polo shirt in a tone on tone printed yarn that creates an uneven stripe effect both feature a contrast lined pocket to wear inside out for a pouch effect. The look is completed by the field jacket, slightly fitted to give it a more contemporary attitude, or by the reversible  ripstop nylon jacket with a check print on one side and an iridescent look on the other.
GAS’ metropolitan summer features dusty, neutral shades of gray and light blue, and pastel colors like coral, peach and aqua green. Vintage treated yet sophisticated jackets, informal shirts, unevenly-dyed t-shirts and chino are the CALIFORNIAN DANDY must haves.

CHINOS are the key of this look. The slim fit bestseller NOAL and RUNIC, with low waist and carrot leg, are offered in a wide range that goes from pastel mineral dyes that create brilliant effects and different depths of colour, to pieces in linen or in delavè panama, in dusty shades of blue and neutrals.

Shirts, starting from classic slim fit models, come in a mix of fabrics and featuring details such as the button-down collar with an inside button to transform it into a mandarin collar. The army version with epaulettes and patch pockets is played down with worked fabrics while the evergreen denim shirt is in light, iridescent mercerized vintage-wash cloth with micro polka-dot print. The knits with jersey inserts are also in a mix of materials, while the micro polka dot or argyle patterns are created with a yarn treatment that absorbs the color with different degrees of intensity.
Faded effect t-shirts have a lived-in look, as if they had been left out in the sun, and feature prints with original interpretations of tropical and colonial images. As an alternative to the t-shirt, GAS proposes one of its bestsellers, the polo shirt, in soft, dusty colours.
Jackets, the essential complement to every GAS look, reflect the relaxed and understated flavour of this mood, and go from the destructured jackets in delavè panama like the chinos, or a slightly more formal version with peak collar in solid color or striped linen/cotton.

The wardrobe plunges into Los Angeles’ summer and the takes the colors of the sand and the sea with touches of coral and fluo. For its HOLIDAY IN L.A. the GAS man wears chino and pocketed pants in shorts, classic, ribbed knit drawstring waist or elasticized bottom versions, shirts, t-shirt and polo shirts with fluo or floral prints, light jackets in linen, perfect for a happy hour on the beach. Innovative interpretations of the floral prints contaminate this holiday look: a laser treatment attacks the dye varying the intensity of the color for a “camouflower” effect, or a floral print fabric dyed to create plays of color.
