Light and fresh: the flowers, colours and aromas of an aristocratic English garden bring the inspiration for GAS Spring Summer 2008. This collection has an eclectic and contemporary style, with pieces that go beyond fashion trends to offer an individualistic interpretation of fashion. In terms of denim, the backbone of the GAS collections, the must-have for men is the low rise 5-pocket, easy on the hips with a leg that tapers down to the hem. This season GAS offers a new take on the chino pants, with a low crotch and lean leg. The GAS-style tuxedo here is presented in grey denim with a 3D effect and in a light blue denim with a finish we call a swimming pool effect which gives the appearance of moving water. The jackets are shown in an updated version of the classic cut, edged with contrast colour piping. The pants have cuts and details which come from the tailoring tradition. Layered lightweight muslin shirts wrap around the body like a veil mixing micro floral patterns with classic stripes. The collars are small and the cuffs are in contrast colours. Women also take to the runway, with ultra-feminine kimono dresses, decorated with contrast colour ribbons and bands of sequins or little shirts in lightweight cotton that mix striped and floral patterns, which can be worn with GAS’s Boyfriend’s Jeans. This completely new addition to the women’s jeans range features a male inspired fit with straight hips and an easy leg. A contemporary style that oozes sophistication and sensuality. Super-lightweight fabrics like cotton muslin and silk crepe meet up with denim for a mix ‘n’ match of materials and colours. All over floral prints and liberty decorations alternate with stripe patterns. The sorbet colour palette of the range features: lilac, purple and rose, with touches of pale orange and green, from grass to army. Pastel colours also appear in the collection. Straw hats and espadrilles complete this collection that is 100% pure summer.
